My Roller Derby team has created a new program to boost our charity involvement with the young Girls of Girls, Inc. The mission of Girls, Inc is, “to help girls achieve their personal best through one-on-one attention, leadership development, a talented staff and volunteers, a wide range of enrichment programs, and a caring family environment.”
We have reached out to them in the past, we have met the girls, hosted enrichment days and we are proud of the bond that we have with the girls. However, they have tried several times to organize “field trips” to come and see us play, the girls have been so excited about seeing Roller Derby – and then for financial reasons these trips have been cancelled. We don’t want to disappoint these girls any further, so we created this simple program to allow the girls an amazing and fun night out with their families.
Please consider purchasing a ticket for this Saturday’s Bout, the ticket is only $12.  The purchase of this ticket will not only allow a young girl to have an inspiring night out, but will show your support in me and my passion for roller derby.

I forgot to bring my skates to our closed door bout this past Sunday.

You know, the first ever WFTDA sanctioned bout in my league’s history against the New Skids on the Block.

FML.

I’m bouting in less than one week. I’m not considered a rookie anymore. I’m playing in my first ever WFTDA sanctioned bout. I am going to get my ass handed to me, and I am going to love ever second of it. Such a glutton for punishment!

Claire D Way took a whip off my jersey tonight and took the rest of it off. What’s a girl to do but tuck the frayed edges up into my sports bra and play the rest of the game in a belly shirt? That’s the rest of it tied around my thigh.

In other news, scrimmage tonight was FUCKING AWESOME. Pissahs did awesome against the Massacre. So impressed with our pack play!

Oh, and epicstratton, you were right. Time to go shopping. Got myself a new jersey, now just need to get my name and number on it! Belly shirt is cute once, then my bellybutton ring gets ripped out and life isn’t so adorable anymore…
